I always knew that one day, I’d dedicate my life to fighting extreme poverty.
Not just poverty, but extreme poverty:
The severe, often life-threatening deprivation of basic human needs.
At 9, I joined the Missionary Childhood Association in my Catholic school, taking my first step toward becoming a nun. But as I grew older, life took me down different paths.
I earned a degree in Child Education and worked as an elementary school teacher with low-income families in Colombia, gaining firsthand experience in what it truly means to change someone's life trajectory. While continuing my studies in Educational Psychology, I realized that to make a broader impact, I needed to pivot. So, I shifted to business and technology, earning a degree from one of Latin America's top-ranked universities, eventually leading me to a 20-year career in tech in the U.S. Despite achieving many of my adult goals, my childhood dream of creating lasting change for those in extreme need never faded. For years, I helped in whatever ways I could from the sidelines, but always with the sense that there was more I could do to make the world a fairer place for the most disadvantaged.
Then, one good day, in the midst of the pandemic and reflecting on the heartbreaking events of 9/11 in New York City, it hit me: The goodness within people like you and me is the truest force capable of alleviating so much suffering in the world.
That’s when Angels of Goodness was born. It was a vivid daydream with a solid vision meant to unite like-minded people who believe ending extreme poverty is everyone’s business. People who understand the responsibility of uplifting someone in desperate need, rather than turning away because their reality is uncomfortable to see or too heartbreaking to face.
Since that day, countless Angels have joined me in bringing hope to those who need it most. One story at a time, one link in the chain of Goodness after another.
You and I have the privilege to change someone's life trajectory today. Right now.
